Who we are
Raqi’s Karate is a small school in Portland, OR where you can learn Ed Parker’s American Kenpo Karate in a supportive environment. All are welcome, and we treat our training partners with respect and care— because we’re in it for the long haul together.
What is kenpo karate?
American Kenpo Karate is a modern self-defense system that is designed to work for and against different body types. It addresses how to respond to a variety of attacks with natural weapons(punches, kicks, grabs, etc) as well as weapons and multiple attackers. While we train using self defense techniques - a set series of movements against a specific attack - the ultimate goal is for students to become spontaneous in their movement so they can defend themselves in any situation and get home safe.
